About Faceoff
Faceoff is a free daily trivia game about comparing things. Every day brings five new rounds, and in each one two things go head to head. You decide which one is bigger, older, heavier or busier, and how sure you are. Everyone plays the same puzzle, so you can compare your score with friends and see how the rest of the world did.
How to play
- Read the question. Each round asks one thing, such as "Which has more people?" or "Which is older?", about two things side by side.
- Pick a side. Tap the one you think wins.
- Say how sure you are. Choose Safe (one moon), Sure (two moons) or Certain (three moons), then lock in your answer.
- See the real numbers. The reveal shows both values and a fun fact. A right answer wins you the moons you chose; a wrong one loses them, so only go Certain when you really know.
- Check your results. After five rounds you see your total, every answer, and where you landed among everyone who played today.
Questions
- When does a new Faceoff come out?
- Every day at midnight, your local time. There is one puzzle per day, the same for every player.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Just open the page and play. Your games and streak are saved in this browser on this device.
- How does the streak work?
- Finish a Faceoff on consecutive days to grow your streak. Miss a day and it starts again from zero.
- Where do the numbers come from?
- From public reference data. Every matchup is checked before it goes into a puzzle, and comparisons that change over time, like population, name the year they are for.
- Can I share my score?
- Yes. Results has a Share button that copies a spoiler-free summary of your day: one line of moons per round, no answers.
